I realize that the information on Elves is less detailed than it is with Vampires. However, as the game progresses, I will be adding more information here, so please take a peek now and again to see how things are evolving. :-)

General Information:

Elves have two major weaknesses: Caffeine and Cold Iron. They are physically unable to handle iron and must wear thick gloves or wield a weapon made of a different metal/alloy, or they suffer agonizing burns. Those with elven ancestry retain this sensitivity, although it is greatly reduced in those of mixed blood. Only those with Vampire blood can heal completely from this affliction, but they are not completely immune from the problem.

Caffeine is outright deadly to any elf. It is much like a chemical sensitivity. A little bit of exposure is nauseating, but a full can of Coke or Pepsi will outright kill. Elves cannot detect caffeine unless using magick, but magical weapons can be warded and wrapped in such a way that iron will not harm them too negatively. They will always feel uncomfortable wearing or wielding anything made of this metal.

Elves are very long lived, but generally don’t live longer than one thousand years. They age at a much slower rate than either Vampires and especially humans. An Elf still looks like a toddler even at the age of 12 and they do not reach adulthood until their 70th year. This has created some problems between Vampires and Elves being raised by Vampiric parents. Vampires are considered adult by the age of 18.

Elves tend to be more patient than other creatures and younger Elves tend to be attention seekers, though as a whole, Elves tend to be very diligent and single mined in all the work they do. This is because their sense of time is slower and they do not feel the need to rush like other species, especially humans.

Elves are not very common in ShadowBlood and to meet one is very very rare. However, there are some who carry at least some elven blood, especially humans.

Abilities:

Elves are active historians, mages and healers. They are among the best of Doctors and they have worked side by side with Vampires and Mutants to help cure some of the most hated diseases known to Mortals, Mutants and the other Otherkin. They are particularly gifted in the realm of Music. few ears can resist the harmony and creativity of Elven Bards! Their art is very much the same. Some of the best artists in ShadowBlood have been Elves, or have been taught by Elves.

Elves by default, are better crafts people and magicians than most other creatures, with the exception of Angels and some Demons.

Sex and Reproduction:

Reproduction for Elves is pretty much the same as it is for humans, only Elves are instinctively partial to poetry and flowers. The more creative it is, the more they like it! Their gestation is also several months longer than a humans. It is about 11 months for a pure blooded Elf and about 9 and a half to 10 months for a half Elf.

Elves find it almost impossible to conceive, though if there are cross species relationships (those with humans being the most common), children are almost always expected. Not all Elves accept these cross bred offspring as they are considered ‘tainted’ and not as powerful as their Elven ancestors. These half breeds, however, are almost always accepted by the human populace.

Turning:

Elves are reasonable easy to turn. They have little natural resistance to Vampire Bites, but they have, through eons of research, found an antidote that may be able to turn Vampire-turned Elves into Elves again. The unfortunate thing is that this antidote is very unstable and does not work on everyone. Vampires have been reluctant to help research a more stable solution, as it would put a hole in the number of elves that they Embrace.
